Nationwide every year, more than 1.3 million students drop out of high school – 7,000 students a day.

On average only about 69% of America’s children graduate.

Louisiana’s graduation rate is just over 70%.

This is an American tragedy. But it is a tragedy we can correct.

WYES is part of American Graduate: Let’s Make it Happen, a public media initiative made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to help communities across America find solutions to address the dropout crisis.

Tune in to WYES Friday, April 13 at 10 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 at noon for the Community Forum – AMERICAN GRADUATE.
Watch as local and state educators along with business and non-profit support services groups to discuss the problem of school dropouts and possible solutions.
