Congratulations Chef Ross Eirich!

CHEF ROSS EIRICH OF NATHAN’S RESTAURANT WINS WYES’S ANNUAL “COOKING WITH COMMUNITY COFFEE” CONTEST

Chef Ross Eirich, of Nathan’s Restaurant in Slidell, won the “Cooking with Community Coffee” Contest with his entrée, Lacquered Duck Breast, featuring Community® Coffee Company’s Café Special®. He will be featured in a Chef’s Spotlight to run on WYES during the month of January.

WYES’ 18th Annual “Season of Good Tastes” featured a series of wine tasting and coffee pairing dinners hosted by some of the New Orleans area’s finest chefs and dining institutions. All proceeds from the event benefited WYES, New Orleans’ public broadcasting station. As a part of the dinner series, chefs were given the opportunity to compete in a “Cooking with Community Coffee” Contest. The chefs were challenged to use the ingredient of Community coffee in one or more of their courses.

“I drink the best coffee and I cook with the best coffee. I only want to use the best ingredients. That is what my costumers deserve,” Eirich said.

As a third generation chef, Eirich shares a rich history and love of exceptional cuisine. His career started at Drago’s in Metairie. Certain of his interest in cooking, he attended and graduated from the Culinary Arts Department of Delgado Community College. While in school, he started as kitchen aide at Galatoire's.

Eirich’s adventure then led him to train under Master Chef Kevin Graham before returning to the kitchens of Galatoire's as a line cook. He then worked as a sous chef for the Bravo! Corporation, opening both the New Orleans and Metairie locations.

In 2000, Eirich returned to Galatoire's as an established chef. He took the reins of the Bourbon Street mainstay and helped the restaurant win the coveted James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Restaurant Award in 2005. He’s been with Nathan’s Restaurant since it opened in 2008.
