Rebuilding Our Coast
BTNEP is a partnership of government, business, scientists, conservation organizations, agricultural interests, and individuals for the preservation, protection, and restoration of the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary in southeast Louisiana, a 4.2 million acre region between the Atchafalaya and Mississippi Rivers. The program was formed in 1990 when the State of Louisiana and the Environmental Protection Agency entered into a cooperative endeavor agreement to establish the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program.
