Rebuilding Our Coast
The State of Louisiana has initiated a series of programs to offset the catastrophic loss of coastal wetlands. Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority was formed and charged with developing and implementing a comprehensive coastal restoration plan. The State Office of Coastal Activities was established to carry out CPRA policies. In addition, the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities coordinates all state agency activities that pertain to the coast of Louisiana. Visit Their Site⇒

Garret Graves, who serves as Chair of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and is also Executive Assistant to The Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities; and R. King Milling, Chairman, Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection and Restoration, describe the programs and projects undertaken by the State to restore and rebuild the coast. |
