The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District TEAM NEW ORLEANS works to protect the region from hurricane and storm damage, facilitate navigation along the Mississippi River, and protect and restore the Louisiana coastal ecosystem. Following Hurricane Katrina the Corps launched a $14 billion hurricane risk reduction project as part of the overall multiple lines of defense strategy that includes coastal restoration as a major component.
