WYES presents the 2026 Rex Ball along with the historic Meeting of the Courts of Rex and Comus on Mardi Gras night – February 17, 2026.
Comus, founded in 1857, is New Orleans’ oldest Carnival organization. It stages its pageantry on the same evening as Rex, founded in 1872.
WYES host/producer Peggy Scott Laborde, along with Errol Laborde, Carnival historian and author, and Dr. Stephen Hales, Rex Organization historian emeritus, provide commentary throughout the evening.
The program contains interviews with past and present Rex and Comus royalty, honored guests including Gayle Benson, the wife of Rex 2026, the parents of the Queen of Carnival and Comus Queen, the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club president, Mayor Helena Moreno, New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick and Archbishop James Checchio, along with historical video vignettes and more.
