WORK AT WYES

This is an unpaid position available to all currently enrolled college students.

PBS member station WYES-TV in New Orleans is in search of a mass communication, or similar field, intern to join our team. The job will entail assisting with social media management and station communication tasks. The intern will be working under the supervision of the communications department and will receive training, experience and (if school required) performance evaluations throughout the internship.

WYES is looking for someone who is a quick learner, on top of social trends, friendly, and who will fit in with our hardworking staff.

The in-office internship will take place at the WYES Paulette and Frank Stewart Innovation Center for Educational Media located at 916 Navarre Avenue in New Orleans, next to City Park.

Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program
  • Communication/Marketing/Digital Media major preferred, but all majors are encouraged to apply
  • Must have an in-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Knowledge of Google Drive, Box.com or similar file storage site
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Can work with day-to-day office equipment: cameras, printers, external hard drives, disc drives
  • Great problem solving, communication, and organizational skills

Additional skills are a bonus, but not required:
  • Tech savvy
  • Adobe Photoshop skills or similar photo/text editing software
  • Understanding of social media marketing and ad software (Ex. Facebook Ad Manager)
  • Reading and comprehension of social analytics
  • Newsletter/e-mail service (Ex. MailChimp)
  • Knowledge of social media assistant apps (Ex: Repost, Boomerang, Spark Post, Square Fit, Hootsuite, YouTube downloader)

Minimum work requirement:
  • 8 hours weekly, Monday – Friday
  • One semester or more commitment
